Should I see a doctor for irregular menstruation?

My periods have been either very late or very short for the past few months. To be honest, I feel embarrassed about going to the doctor to explain, but it’s really bothering me. Is this kind of thing normal? Should I ignore it or get an appointment right away?

If this has been going on for a few months, I think you should go directly to a gynecologist. There’s nothing to be ashamed of; you can straightforwardly say, ‘my periods have become irregular, either they are late or short.’ Trust me, they’ve heard weirder things.

For about 4-5 months, there was either a constant delay or it would end in 2 days. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, and the doctor fixed it with treatment. I would say it’s a postponement or being late.

There can be many reasons for menstrual irregularities, situations like hormonal disorders are quite common. However, the underlying cause can vary, so you should definitely see a specialist. Obstetrics and gynecology is the main address for this.

If you’re going to make such a big deal out of these delays, why are you hesitating to go to the doctor? Wouldn’t it be easier to just go and sort it out from the beginning? It seems like it’s become a problem worth writing about here, but you haven’t taken a step towards a solution.

It’s not shameful to speak openly about these things. After all, it’s a health matter; if you don’t address it in time, it could get worse. Also, talk to your family and ask for help, don’t be alone with these issues

Let me add that my periods used to be quite regular. This change has happened in the last 3-4 months. I thought it might be due to stress, but it still hasn’t improved, so I am worried.

So, has there been any other change in your life in the last 3-4 months? You mentioned stress, but is there something like work, sleep patterns, or weight change? Maybe it’s related to those as well.

Actually, I think you shouldn’t hesitate to talk to the doctor; nowadays everyone shares all sorts of things with doctors. A friend of mine was in a similar situation, had a hormone test done, and there was nothing wrong. At least you’ll feel more at ease.
