Is brown discharge before period normal?

Girls, I want to ask you something… For the past few months, I’ve been having brown discharge a week before my period. Normally, my period is regular, but this feels a bit strange. I haven’t been able to go to the doctor because I’m embarrassed. Has anyone experienced this? Should I wait or should I be worried?

So when you say a week ago, does it always start on the same day? For example, does it always last 7 days? Because I used to have it too, but it would only last 2-3 days. If the duration is gloomy, maybe it makes a difference.

It happened to me, then I started taking birth control pills and it went away. I think it’s hormonal. But if you’re not sure, I would say ask a doctor.

Brown discharge is usually caused by the expulsion of old blood and is often considered normal before menstruation. However, if it occurs repeatedly or if there are other symptoms present (such as odor or pain), it’s best to visit a gynecologist.

Let me update you: I’ve been experiencing this regularly for the past 4-5 months, and then the normal menstrual bleeding starts. There’s no pain or bad odor, it just feels weird. I’ve also lost a bit of weight recently.

I think it’s silly to be ashamed of seeing a doctor here; what are you going to do if your health goes downhill? Go get checked out, it will put your mind at ease. Waiting won’t get you anywhere anyway.

But no one should just say “it’s hormonal” anymore. That label is written under everything; does it always have to be related to gynecology? It could be something serious, and directly diagnosing it is ridiculous.

What kind of logic is this? You say there’s been weight loss, but the effect of stress on the body isn’t as light as you think. Don’t trust your mom or anything, a doctor wouldn’t just dismiss it without seeing you.
