My family is worried that I've lost too much weight; do you think they're justified?

I've really lost a significant amount of weight in the last 6 months, going from a size 40 to a size 34. I feel good, but my mom and aunt have literally started sitting at the dining table and counting my calories. They're worried that there might be a problem with my health, but I feel at ease. Do you think this situation is normal, or could they be justified in their concerns?

I experienced the same thing, girl. I was a size 38, and suddenly I started exercising heavily and dropped to a size 34. My mom was staring at my plate like a hawk. We went to the doctor, and nothing came up. But here's the thing: their fear is because they care about you. I recommend getting a blood test or something, so everyone can relax.

My aunt's daughter once lost weight like this, going from a size 42 to 36. It turned out she did it too quickly and ended up with a vitamin deficiency. You should visit a doctor too, so your parents can feel at ease. It might just be a simple deficiency.

It's easy to blame the family now, but did you ever go to the doctor and get checked to see if "everything is okay" while losing this much weight? Maybe you're really putting your health at risk. Just because your body shrinks doesn't mean you're healthy.

In a weight loss of this nature over 6 months, you should check whether your total daily calorie intake and expenditure are balanced. Additionally, metabolic disorders such as thyroid diseases can be hidden causes in such situations. I think at least you should consult an internal medicine specialist.

I'm not really thinking about a health problem right now, but I honestly didn't think about my blood tests. I haven't focused too much on my diet and exercise. My parents are telling me to go to the doctor. Maybe I'll get a check-up, let's see.

The pressure you feel is so tough; instead of enjoying what you eat, you end up getting stressed out. During a similar period, I was criticized for every bite I took, with comments like 'Is this so little? Is this so much?' It turned into serious discussions after that. I think we need to do something about it beforehand.

Just do this: See an endocrinologist to be sure about the situation. They will conduct a blood test and clarify whether the weight loss is within healthy limits. You can show the report to your family, and everyone will feel at ease.

So, when you dropped to 34, did you change your eating habits or just increase your activity? Because sometimes moms might suspect psychological reasons as well. Did you go on a diet, what changed here?

I think you shouldn't burden your parents too much. Most people get worried when someone loses that much weight, especially if it happens quickly. But whether they're right or wrong, don't dwell on it. Go see a doctor and tell them "I'm fine" with the paperwork; it’s worth the expense.
