I'm not going to the doctor for fear my family will find out

I’ve been having some health issues lately, but honestly, I’m hesitant to see a doctor because it’s such a private matter. I’m also worried that if my family finds out, they’ll blow it all out of proportion. But my symptoms are getting worse by the day; what should I do in this situation? How do I handle this? I’m feeling really stuck.

I think you shouldn’t wait any longer. Health is important; you can go to the doctor and find out without telling your family. You don’t have to hide it from your family, but if necessary, you can come up with an excuse. After all, it’s your body; don’t neglect it or brush things aside.

You say it’s so private, but what exactly is the issue? I mean, is it something like women’s health issues, for instance? Or is it a completely different topic?

@elifce123 Yes, there are quite a lot of vague pains related to women’s health, and sometimes they can be very uncomfortable.

@metinbey okay, I get that you’re saying health matters, but not everyone’s family is the same. In the girl’s situation, involving them might lead to even worse consequences. It makes sense for her to think about handling it on her own first.

If these symptoms have become regular, it’s definitely necessary to see a gynecologist. You can choose private sessions or clinics where you can go alone to feel more comfortable regarding privacy. It can be resolved without involving the family; there’s nothing to be afraid of.

@aysenursez is right, but working at a private clinic is not always easy financially. I think preferring a female doctor when choosing a hospital would already ease the situation a bit.

@yasinim34 I think you are wrong. If health is deteriorating to the point of danger, family matters come second. Besides, what harm could there be in going to the doctor without telling the family?
