My mom told me not to go to the doctor, what should I do?

My periods have been very irregular for the last few months. Sometimes they occur in 20 days, sometimes in 40 days. I told my mom, and she said, ‘There’s no need to go to the doctor, just drink chamomile tea, it will normalize.’ But to be honest, I’m not comfortable at all because I keep having pain. Despite that, I’m not sure if I should go, as I don’t want to upset my mom, but continuing like this feels odd.

I think you should go to the gynecologist without wasting any time. Sometimes menstrual irregularities are caused by stress, but since you mentioned pain, it’s necessary to have an ultrasound or something similar. There could be something related to your uterus. You can tell your mom something like, ‘the doctor can also check herbal tea, what’s the harm?’ to make it sound lighter.

So why is your mom opposing it now, is it about financial issues or something? Or is she just not someone who deals with health?

@didi_sormaz it could be a bit of a materialistic side, but essentially it’s all about the mindset of ‘everything will be sorted out naturally’, meaning they don’t really like doctors.

@aylacnm come on, it’s ridiculous to say “even herbal tea does that.” Take your mom a bit seriously; after all, maybe she knows something too. You’re speaking very definitively.

Disorder isn’t actually interesting for a few months, but if there’s pain, that’s not normal. It’s easy to say she should go to an obstetrician, but then there’s family conflict too. That’s why especially explain the “I have pain” part to your mother. If she’s worried about the cost, go to a public hospital; after all, they might need to do a hormone test if necessary. Herbal tea might help, but it’s not the solution.

@deli_elf is actually right; you shouldn’t dismiss your mother’s opinion outright. Just because going to a doctor doesn’t have to mean stressing out. First, calm the household down, then you can take your steps.

Playing between 20 and 40 days means hormones might be completely out of balance. The more stress you go through, the harder it is to correct. However, I advise you not to wait for the pain; find a good doctor and make an appointment.

@soran I’m sorry but if you listen to your mom, you’ll just make things worse. Your body, after all, isn’t doing anything harmful by going to the doctor. Be prepared to face it.
