My mom won't let me use tampons, I'm struggling with pads

My mom never lets me use tampons; she says it will harm my body. But I can't stand using pads, especially in the summer, it's unbearable. Do you think I should listen to my family or ignore them for my own comfort? I'm so confused.

I can never do without a tampon during the summer. Pads seriously make me sweat and feel uncomfortable. But when I used them for the first time, my mom didn't want me to either, so I had to keep them for a while. Then I got used to it, but honestly, it took her some time to understand 🫠.

I honestly think they might be acting like this because they don't trust me much. A tampon doesn’t hurt, if you use it correctly, of course. But why haven’t you sat down and talked properly with your mom for this long? It surprised me, I mean.

The tampon itself doesn't cause harm, but hygienic use is very important. It should be changed every 4-6 hours at most. If you have a vaginal infection or are using it for the first time, you can consult your doctor. There are mini sizes that are suitable

I never really thought about specifically mentioning mini-sized pads. I think my mom isn't very informed about these types of hygiene products, which is why she immediately opposes them. But I'm still unsure about how to convince her.

Your mom might not be directly talking about her fears related to the tampon here, but something else. Maybe she experienced something when she was younger? Moms sometimes don’t like to tell stories, but they can be overprotective.

Anne may be right, after all, she's thinking of you. Think about why elders in the family react in these situations. There's also peer pressure and other factors. Honestly, I believe that pads are safer.

I think you should go with your mom to talk to a gynecologist together. Both hygiene and the tampon-pad issue should be explained in detail so that your mom feels more at ease. She needs to hear the doctor's advice directly to be convinced.
