My friend panicked saying she would try a tampon for the first time

Hi, I have a friend’s wedding on Sunday, but I've just started my period today. I’ll be moving around a bit and will need to be somewhat attention-grabbing due to my work. Besides using pads and tampons, what else can I do? Or what should I do in this situation?

Using a tampon can feel a bit challenging at first, but in a lively environment like a wedding, it's much more comfortable than a pad. When I tried it for the first time, I suffered for half an hour, but then I got used to it.

Have you really never tried it before? Does the pedal bother you a lot? 🫠

@yazipsildim no, I've never tried it, I get a bit panicky putting it on because I'm afraid I'll do something wrong 😅

It's a bit silly to panic about messing up. There are millions who use it; fear has grown without even trying it at least once.

@hatconene you say that, but everyone is a little nervous the first time they try. You jumped right in, let the person get used to it at their own pace 😅

I think you should go to the pharmacy and get a small tampon. Try it a few times at home first. If you can't feel it, it's in right, so don't be scared.

Fear of tampons is generally a normal situation. It's important to relax and place it correctly when inserting. Check the pull string to make sure it stays outside. Or you can get practical advice from a doctor or pharmacist.

I also couldn't think of anything other than pads at first, but once you get used to it, tampons are really comfortable. They can't be compared to pads, honestly 🫠

If you panic on the first try, your muscles will tense up even more, which makes things harder. It might be better to try getting used to it during a calm time instead of right before the wedding or something. Also, follow the instructions in the user manual to the letter; many people skip steps.
