Wrote to his ex-girlfriend three weeks before the wedding

The wedding is three weeks away, but I saw messages with my fiancé’s ex on his phone. It’s not long, just some checking in and a lighthearted story about an old memory. But it’s really bothering me; it’s stuck in my head. He insists it was “just friendly,” but my trust has been shaken. I don’t know what to do now. Everything is ready for the wedding, and both families know. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

I think there’s something strange about this. If there’s only 3 weeks left until the wedding, why is he bringing up a conversation with his ex? There aren’t all the details, but it doesn’t feel innocent to me :grimacing:

There has been so much preparation, everyone is involved, in this case, I can’t just say “we just chatted amicably”. Do you think that’s normal?

Is this happening for the first time? Have you ever noticed that you have corresponded before?

@camkenari I caught him for the first time, but he has been in contact with his ex before, you know, through a mutual friends group and all.

If they talked in the past, why didn’t you do anything before?

I experienced the same thing, my fiancé was messaging his ex. He said, “we were just catching up,” but then the wedding got canceled. So I suggest you be careful, either you’re being played or he’s being superficial.

There is no penalty for breaking the engagement, but if you have already incurred expenses for the wedding preparations, you can make a request to the other party. However, I think you should consider talking to a couples therapist before it gets to that point.

@yazipsildim wasn’t that a bit harsh? Not everyone is in the same position, maybe the guy really doesn’t have bad intentions :slightly_smiling_face:

I definitely say get married. There’s no trust with someone who keeps the door open for old flings
