Is it normal to constantly hear comments about my clothes on the street?

I experience the same thing, especially when I go straight to the market after the gym. Once, the guy in front of me at the checkout was constantly looking at my legs, and I was at a loss for what to do in that moment. I mean, I'm just dressing comfortably, and it's not our fault if someone misunderstands that, but it’s definitely uncomfortable.

I actually don't think this is a new thing. For example, even when I was in high school, if I wore tight pants, my mom would send me to the store, and I couldn't escape the watchful eyes along the way. It's not just an issue with leggings; it seems like people get bothered no matter what a woman does 🤷‍♀️.

It seems that here the limits of your freedom clash with someone else's right to "not be disturbed." But from a legal perspective, clothing choice is a matter of personal freedom. No one has the right to tell you "wear this." Still, you might consider acting in a way that makes you feel more comfortable in enclosed spaces or crowded environments for your safety.

Let me add that I can't escape these looks not just at the market, but even when I'm getting on the bus to go to the gym. Men tend to stare more, but honestly, the women sticking out their tongues is more hurtful for me.

Okay, but you keep saying 'they are being disturbed', don’t you think that the woman you refer to could act a bit according to the situation? What the old lady said is a bad tone, but maybe she wanted to tell you something from her life experience? Instead of arguing with everyone, you could live a bit more in harmony with society.
