My spouse doesn't even say hello when they get home

For the past few weeks, when my spouse came home, they would greet me first or share how their day went. But now, as soon as they enter the house, they shut themselves in their room and don't talk to me at all. At first, I thought it might be work stress, but having things like this go on for so long makes me wonder. It's as if I don't exist. Am I being too sensitive, or is there a serious problem?

My daughter, things won't work this way. A home should be a haven, welcoming the person who comes in. If my husband doesn't say 'Honey, I'm home' as soon as he walks in, I'll remind him of it for forty years. I think you should sit down and talk about this right away. If you've been saying this for weeks, it must have worn you out already.

So, during this time, didn't you ever ask, 'Is everything okay?' Maybe they're just really busy or something else is going on 🤦‍♀️

@dertlianne I tried to talk to him, but he brushes me off with vague replies. It's always like 'I'm tired,' or 'nothing's wrong,' and then he just retreats to his room right away 😐

@anneabla you speak so definitively, but maybe the guy has a serious mental health issue? Instead of jumping into blame mode all the time, why not ask a question? Maybe he needs support.

Such behavioral changes are sometimes not just about fatigue. It could be work stress, burnout, or another emotional issue that doesn't directly involve you. Instead of cornering with a direct accusation or a "why are you like this" question, try approaching them calmly with something like, "You seem a bit different lately; do you want to talk about it?"
