My spouse choosing furniture without asking my mother

My spouse ordered furniture for the nursery yesterday evening without even telling me. My mom had said the other day, "I was thinking of contributing as well," and now she's pretty upset. Do you think I should explain this to my mom, or should I tell my spouse that we need to discuss these matters together? Honestly, I'm stuck.

It's actually unusual for him not to ask your mother because they say that buying items for the house without the consent of the elders brings bad luck. They believe that in our area.

@mahrem_saf you're mistaken, this is purely a local belief. Nobody has to get approval, you just decide with your spouse and that's it. The inside of your home belongs to you, after all.

Why did your spouse order alone? Was there no time to talk, or was there no opportunity? Or do they usually make decisions like this on their own? 🫠

@yazipsildim, this isn't the first time actually; something similar happened with the kitchen table last time too. But this time, when my mom heard about it, she freaked out 😳

@kahvebitmeden no way it's that clear-cut, I think. The mother-in-law and stuff is important. After all, you're forming a bond in the family, so I don't think it will be disconnected 🤦‍♀️

If there is a communication breakdown between spouses, these kinds of things tend to accumulate. It would be good to explain the situation and discuss with your spouse that you should make these kinds of orders together, in order not to hurt your mother 😳

Does your partner like to make their own decisions or do they not care about your opinion? I think you should clarify that. Since this is a recurring situation, either there's a communication problem or it stems from something else. It would be good to ask your partner first why they are acting this way.
