My ex is suing to increase alimony now that my salary has gone up. Is she right?

Friends, this is a new situation for me. My ex was awarded alimony during our divorce, but I pay it without any difficulty. I've now found a new job, and my salary has increased. My ex has learned about this and has filed a lawsuit to raise the alimony. Now, do I have to pay a price for experiencing something good in my life? Is there any justice in this, can they do this to me?

I think there's something going on with your ex filing a lawsuit so quickly. I mean, it's interesting that she learned about the salary increase right away. Is there still a mutual acquaintance between you who passes along news or something? Did she have any kind of correspondence or conversation with you, for example?

Now think about it, if you were someone who completely excludes your ex, you would look for various ways to avoid even paying alimony. You're paying alimony, how fair is it to go back to court just because your salary has increased? Does justice only work in the woman's favor?

You keep emphasizing living your own beautiful experiences, but this is entirely an economic issue. Alimony is already determined in relation to your income, so if your salary is increasing, that's quite natural. Don't think that all obligations towards the spouse disappear just because you've divorced.

Legally, your ex-spouse has the right to file this lawsuit, but whether the alimony will actually increase as a result of the case depends on details such as your living standards and the needs of the other party. An increase in income doesn’t necessarily mean an automatic raise; the judge's evaluation is crucial.

Let me update you: I don't think there's anyone among us who carries news or talks about my salary. But I did make a post about my new job on social media, so they might have learned from there. Interestingly, we don't have any communication with anyone else either.

Now do this: Write down the salary increase rate, your ex-spouse's income situation, and the current alimony amount on a piece of paper. See everything clearly, this information will be helpful when consulting a lawyer. To understand the logic of the situation, start by looking at the numbers.

Ah son, getting a divorce doesn’t end everything... You got married back then, you took on a responsibility. Now that you’ve had a salary increase, your ex might be reassessing her life too. If she really needs it, take a moment to think, being human isn’t that hard.

My friend once told me, 'When a guy's salary goes up, I don't even let go of a penny.' I think your ex is on the same wavelength. Some people really look at the money thing with zero feelings, so let's not be surprised anymore.
