The harassment lawsuit I filed against my former boss and my firing

Last month, I complained about my boss due to an incident I experienced at work; I was really harassed. But yesterday, they fired me, citing poor performance and are not giving me my severance pay. Now, if I continue with the harassment case and also file for reinstatement, would I win? My lawyer said something, but I'm very confused. Has anyone gone through something like this before?
