My ex claims that after all these years, he has paid his alimony debt

Last week, I received a message I never expected. My ex-girlfriend wrote to me about a alimony issue that I thought was over 5 years ago. She says that she has paid her debt but accidentally overpaid and is requesting a refund. Can old matters like this be reopened? Should I consult a lawyer, or should I just completely ignore it?
