I fought with my landlord, and I'm afraid of being evicted.

My landlord raised the rent last month, but my contract hasn’t expired yet. When I mentioned that it wasn’t right, he got very angry and said he wanted me to vacate the house. During the argument, I raised my voice, even if it was unintentional. Now I'm worried if he can sue me or do worse things. Does my current lease protect me, or can they find a loophole?

To be honest, it's already a strange situation that they are asking for a rent increase before the contract ends. But your raising your voice might have complicated things. I wish you had tried to resolve it calmly. Now, I believe they can't evict you immediately according to the current contract, but you need to look into the details carefully.

We could say that the current lease agreement protected you from eviction, but the situation is a bit complicated. If they send a written notice and file for eviction, the process will begin. Consult a lawyer immediately because the clauses in the contract are very critical.

Everyone is blaming the landlord, but why are you raising your voice? Maybe the guy wanted to solve it differently. Now, if he tries to evict you, you’ve given him leverage. I think you should learn to stay a little calmer, too.

Girls, let me add this: The contract states 'the rent increase is done once a year,' so I thought it was unfair. Also, when I insisted that I won’t vacate the house, my voice got raised, but I didn't threaten or anything.

What I don't understand is why you always have to reach the point of fighting? Whether the landlord is right or wrong, you could think about packing up your things and adapting. Otherwise, you won't be able to deal with the neighborhood gossip, and you'll end up in a tough spot.
