I tried a tampon for the first time, but I can't take it out and I'm really panicking

Hey guys, hello! I was supposed to meet a guy today, thought there would be a pool and everything, so I used a tampon for the first time, but I can't find the string! I seriously feel like it's stuck inside me right now, and I’m panicking a lot. Should I go to the hospital or can I handle this myself? Has anyone ever been through something like this?
