I have pain in the lower part of my abdomen, and I feel it more, especially when sitting down and getting up. It has been like this for about 3 days, but to be honest, I’m hesitant to go to the doctor because I’m both embarrassed and thinking that maybe it will pass on its own. What do you think I should do? How much longer should I wait, or should I go right away? Which department should I go to, does anyone have any ideas?
I had something similar, with lower abdominal pain that got worse especially when sitting. It turned out to be a non-ruptured appendix for me, which was causing pressure when I sat down or got up. I had gone to general surgery, and the results came back on the same day.
I suggest you go to general surgery right away. Clearly say, ‘I have pain in my lower abdomen, it gets worse when I move.’ Don’t worry, they are used to these kinds of things, no one will find it strange.
Avoiding it is actually societal conditioning. Your health is at stake, doctors are doing their jobs and that’s their duty. Because of this shyness, women generally start treatment later, it’s definitely not your fault, but you need to be aware of it.
But have you tried anything in these 3 days? Like painkillers or a hot water bottle, did it help at all? Did you have trouble sleeping due to the pain at night?
Let me put it plainly, these types of pains can sometimes be serious, but other times they turn out to be something simple related to the intestines. But if it’s been 3 days and it’s getting worse, I think you shouldn’t postpone it any longer. At worst, you’ll just end up having gone for nothing.
I’ve just noticed that it feels lighter in the mornings but intensifies in the evening. I tried a hot water bottle yesterday, but it didn’t seem to help much. I’m still a bit hesitant about seeing a doctor, but I think I should go.
I think this feels a bit like premenstrual syndrome. Are you close to your period, or has there been any interesting cycle change recently? It might also be something stress-related, but I’m not sure.
