There's swelling in my groin, but I'm embarrassed to see a doctor.

I’ve noticed a swelling in my groin for the past few days, it’s slightly painful but not constant. To be honest, I’m hesitant to go to the doctor; I feel embarrassed and I think that if it’s not something serious, I’ll be wasting my time. Do you think I should wait or should I make an appointment right away?

I think don’t wait at all, swelling in the groin area can sometimes be caused by lymph nodes and may be a sign of infection. Just make an appointment with general surgery, if necessary, they will refer you to a different department.

The same thing happened to me, I felt a bit embarrassed, but I relaxed a lot once I went. Doctors don’t find it strange since they deal with these kinds of things all the time. You’ll feel better if you make an appointment with a female doctor.

Why are you embarrassed? It’s health after all; isn’t it better if something turns serious? Doctors aren’t there for you to feel shy. Even if it’s not important, you’ll find out, and if necessary, they’ll prescribe medication and move on.

Swelling in the groin area is often caused by simple reasons such as a fat cyst, ingrown hair, or lymph node inflammation. However, it can occasionally be something more serious. First, if you go to your family doctor for an examination, they will refer you to general surgery or another department if necessary.

Actually, I have preferred a female doctor a few times, but I still feel uncomfortable. The swelling is not deep, it’s also slightly noticeable from the outside, but there hasn’t been any growth. The pain comes and goes; it’s not constant. Do you think it would be risky to wait a bit?
