I used to love my chubby self, now I'm a stranger in the mirror

I lost 20 kilos in 6 months, but I can't get used to myself. I used to love my curves, now I'm thin but my self-confidence has strangely dropped. Is this normal? Or am I overthinking it?

I experienced the same thing. I lost 18 kilos, and at first I felt very foreign to myself. I would look at my old clothes and say, 'Is this me?' But as I started working out, I felt more solid, and maybe if you find an active hobby, you'll bounce back too.

To be honest, it would be good to talk to a psychologist in a situation like this. It could be something like body perception disorder. Losing 20 kilos is a significant change, so it's important to work on being aware of your movements. My advice is to consult a specialist.

So did you lose it through exercise or diet? Because if you only followed a diet, you might have experienced muscle loss. This situation can make you feel weak and unwell.

I think you should also question how you felt before losing weight. You're unhappy now, but how much did you actually love your heavier self? If it's not your ideal body, it might not be love but consolation instead 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for the comments. Actually, I followed the diet after consulting a dietitian and supported the exercise with walking. It was said that there was no muscle loss. But still, it feels like a very thin person seems foreign to me.

Has your spouse, family, or friends said anything while you were losing weight? Because in our society, they usually say either 'you look great' or 'you were cute when you were heavier.' Maybe these comments from those around you have an effect 🤷‍♀️

After a significant weight change, you may experience a condition known as 'body dysmorphia.' The image in the mirror can seem foreign to you, and it may take time for you to get used to it. Seeking support on this matter can be beneficial because as your self-confidence decreases, you may also struggle in social life.

Losing a lot of weight doesn't always yield good results for everyone. You say our daughter was confident when she was overweight, so why did you lose weight? I think while trying to escape societal pressure, you lost your self-love, and that's why you are becoming unhappy 😳
