My pad box in the guest bathroom is in the family group

There was some busyness at home after the wedding; since there were a lot of visitors coming and going, I couldn’t tidy up the things I had put in the guest bathroom. After my cousin returned home, she took a photo of my pad box that was “left behind” in the bathroom and shared it in our family WhatsApp group. I don’t know if she was being ironic or trying to embarrass me, but I felt incredibly ashamed. Now, I think everyone in the family is talking about it. Should I confront her about this to her face, or should I just act like it didn’t happen and move on?

I think the real issue here isn’t that the pet box is in the bathroom or anything like that, but rather that your cousin took it and moved it to the family group. It shows a lack of respect for private space, a pretty passive-aggressive move. Just tell them directly; these kinds of things disguised as ‘jokes’ are harmful.

And doesn’t everyone have a pad box in their bathroom anyway? It’s really not something to be exaggerated. Your cousin probably did it as a joke, but if you felt bad about it, I think you need to let them know. Otherwise, next time they’ll be even more daring

Just to be sure, I’m asking, the pads used in that box were being thrown away, right? Or did you put in new pads? Because it wouldn’t be hygienic to have used materials in the guest bathrooms

@mahrembilinc of course I had new pads, I put them out so guests could use them comfortably if they wanted. Just having the box visible became a problem

I seriously don’t understand, if the issue is having the pad box in the bathroom, why do you feel embarrassed as if you were humiliated in the family group? It seems to me like you’re blowing it out of proportion. Maybe your cousin was just joking around :joy:.

There are two important things in this move: one is your privacy boundaries, and the other is your cousin’s social boundaries. Sharing something personal about the family in a sensational way is usually a behavior stemming from sarcasm or lack of awareness. If you react, be constructive and clear. You could say something calm yet meaningful like, ‘I hope you wouldn’t have shared this if you had told me directly.’

It’s strange that you’re being so sensitive about this. I wouldn’t even emphasize it that much. Is there anyone who doesn’t show that they’re a woman? There can’t be anything more natural than seeing a pad box. I don’t understand why you’re saying ‘I’m embarrassed’ right away :grimacing:
