My fiancée refused to return the gold

I bought a gold bracelet for my fiancé with my savings before the engagement. After the engagement, my family said that the gold should be returned because there might be other expenses for the marriage. But my fiancé thinks it's their right and doesn't want to return it. Frankly, this situation is making me think a lot. What do you suggest I do?
