My fiancé argued with me because I liked an old photo

I accidentally liked a photo of an old friend from nearly 10 years ago. My fiancée noticed it and started arguing about it. She asked, 'Why are you interested in old stuff?' then implied she was jealous. But it was totally an accident! I don't understand why this issue has escalated so much. Do you think it's such a deep matter? Or am I overreacting?

I think the issue is related to that old photo's content. If it's something ordinary, it doesn't make sense to blow it out of proportion. But jealousy is a different story; people think differently about it. And you say it was completely by accident, convincing him might be difficult. Men can be very detail-oriented about these things sometimes.

Sure, but is this happening for the first time? Has he experienced such jealousy crises before, or is this something completely spontaneous?

@sorgulayan honestly, this isn't the first time; they had previously prolonged things over small matters, but this time it seemed really unnecessary to me.

@zevk_goreceli you can't just dismiss this as jealousy. Engagement is a serious matter; connections from the past can cause issues. Actions like liking photos should be done carefully, as they are not well-received in our society.

Explain calmly at a time when the discussion won't escalate. Say that you mistakenly liked the photo and that there is no old connection. Listen to them as well, show some empathy.

@gelenekci I don't think it's necessary to put so much pressure. If they get caught up in every like situation, they should just quit social media. It's human nature, mistakes happen 🙃

Now, friends, let me say as a guy, the claim that you accidentally liked that photo might not sound convincing. From our perspective, there's the question of 'why were they there in the first place?' Maybe if it gave off a stalking vibe on his phone, his jealousy might have increased.

It looks very simple now, but similar jealousies turned into big problems in my relationship when I was engaged. Things that seem minor actually reveal underlying insecurities. Either they get resolved or they continue for years. I think you shouldn't ignore this.
