My fiancé bought gold for his mother-in-law...

I thought my fiancé and I always talked openly about financial matters, but he bought gold for his mother-in-law without telling me about the money we saved for the wedding. To be honest, this upset and angered me. I mean, this money was saved for the wedding; should things like this be done without discussion? I don't want to cause any family trouble, but this situation has cast a shadow over our wedding preparations. What would you do in my place?

This is really strange; how can they do it without speaking? 🫠

You're saying you learned about it without being informed beforehand, where did you hear that from? Did he tell you himself, or did you find out by mistake?

@soncaykaldi he said he didn't think there would be a problem. But still, I was just uncomfortable.

you're exaggerating a bit here. After all, buying gold for his family isn't a bad thing, and the wedding situation will be sorted out. Is it really worth stressing over?

@kirmizikazak has nothing to do with it, spending shared savings without discussing is wrong. It's understandable to be bothered by this. 😅

In the marriage preparation process, decisions made unilaterally like "I’ve done it" can lead to trust issues. You can calmly discuss the matter with them and indicate that you will make decisions together on all expenses in the future. When financial issues come to the forefront, communication becomes more important.

Sleep on it, it’ll work itself out.

Could this have become a routine for him? As he described, thinking "there won't be a problem" is rather relaxed. If it's the first time he's doing it, what happens if it happens again? 🙂
