My period is very different this month, should I be worried?

It normally lasted 6 days, this month it extended to 10 days and its color is close to dark brown. Honestly, I’m hesitant to go to the doctor because I feel a bit embarrassed talking about things like this. Do you think I should go right away or should I wait a bit longer to see if it improves? Is there anyone else who has experienced this?

I experienced something similar once. My period was both dark brown and lasted 9-10 days. I went to the doctor and it turned out to be a polyp. They removed it with a simple procedure. So don’t be afraid to see a doctor; it can be resolved quickly.

Honestly, is there any shame in going to the doctor? It’s health, anything can happen to people. If you don’t tell the doctor about the thing you’re ashamed of, who will you tell? I think instead of waiting, just make an appointment directly.

Such prolonged and darkening bleeding could be due to hormonal imbalance, but there may also be a structural issue related to the uterus. Instead of waiting, it’s best to see a gynecologist and have an ultrasound check.

Let me add that I was very stressed a few days before my period started. I wonder if it was completely due to stress. But I hadn’t experienced this during my other stressful periods

I think saying it’s just stress is taking the easy way out. Our neighbor in the neighborhood didn’t pay attention when his bleeding became irregular; he had a cyst. He struggled for 2 years. I don’t know how old he is, but any change in bleeding should be shown to a doctor right away.
