My girlfriend is unemployed and asked me for a loan

My boyfriend has been laid off and he needs to make an urgent payment right now. He asked me to lend him some money but he's not saying when he can pay it back. He says he's looking for a job, but I'm a bit skeptical. They say money matters can harm relationships, so I'm feeling uncertain. It feels like a matter of trust, but what if he can't get things back on track? Do you think I should lend him the money just because he's my boyfriend?

I experienced something like that; I lent money to my ex for 2 years because I said they were in a tough spot, but they never paid me back on time even once, always with an excuse. I think you should be very careful about this 🤦‍♀️

@pazardandondum but an ex is not the same as the current partner. I think we need to evaluate the situation based on the person; just because you've had a bad experience doesn't mean everyone will be the same.

In general, it is beneficial to have something in writing in the lending business. Even if the amount is low, there should be a record of the message. If you don't want your relationship to suffer, discuss the payment clearly; ambiguous matters create tension in the long run.
