Is it wrong to ask my girlfriend for her phone password?

I have a girlfriend I've been with for a long time, and everything is actually very nice, but something has been bothering me. She always carries her phone with her and has never told me the password. I've started to feel a lack of trust. If I ask her now, would I look jealous? Or is this a normal thing? Would you ask, or what would you do in a situation like this?

I had the same thing happen to me, it really gnawed at me. He would constantly flip his phone over; I asked for his password and that day there was a fight. Turns out he was talking to his ex. Of course, not everyone is like that, but I think this is a sign.

Honey, if she were my daughter, I would say the same thing: Love is built on trust. Sharing your password isn't an abnormal thing these days. I think you should ask openly, but calmly. See it as sharing life, not as distrust 🤦‍♀️

It's so frustrating, isn't it? For example, when you reach for the phone, you're watching intently with your eyes, wondering what they'll do. Is it really something ordinary, or are they hiding something? In such situations, a person just eats themselves up inside.

But the thing is: The phone is everyone’s private space. Not sharing the password doesn’t necessarily mean there’s something being hidden. Always carrying it around can be just a personal habit. Don’t jump to conclusions right away 😳

You've asked whether it's trust or control, and that's a bit of a delicate balance. When partners leave each other healthy space, that's called trust, but if that space is filled with lies, the reflex to control develops. You need to try to understand through communication; that's the advice.

Let me update you: A friend of mine came over and said, 'Just ask openly, it's clear you keep thinking about it.' But I'm still hesitant. According to their reasoning, it might come off as a jealous attitude. I'm afraid if I ask again, they might get aggressive.

We talked a lot about this topic in our friend group. If someone looked at my phone, I would go crazy because I have silly things even in my notes, asdfgh. But in a serious relationship, I think sharing passwords shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise, what are those secrets anyway?
