My aunt showed my bare face to my boyfriend

I’m very close with my aunt, but she shared a makeup-free photo of me with my boyfriend without my permission. My boyfriend looked at it and jokingly said, "Oh, now I get why filters are needed." I felt so bad. I’m angry with both my boyfriend and my aunt now. What do you think I should do, or would I have been justified in reacting?

Your aunt has really crossed the line here. Your partner's joke is hurtful, but sharing your private matters is a much bigger problem. I experienced something similar with my cousin; we had a serious argument, and I set some distance. You need to be clear too.

Why did your girlfriend want your aunt to send that picture? I don't understand. Did she ask for it, or did your aunt send it herself? This detail is important.

@soncaykaldi my girlfriend didn't want it, my aunt just threw it out of nowhere. Supposedly while chatting about an incident.

@makarnaoncesi it seems like you are leaving the partner very innocent. Saying 'why do we need a filter' is quite a degrading thing. They should have reacted at that moment.

there are boundary violations here, clearly. your aunt's sharing without permission indicates a privacy problem, while your partner's comment shows a lack of empathy. it's hard to find a solution without sitting down and discussing it with both. by the way, did your partner apologize?

The headline seems to focus on the girlfriend, but the main issue is actually with the sister-in-law, I think. Your boyfriend would see you without makeup as natural, right? This shouldn't normally be a problem.
