My family's concerns about my skin issues are affecting me

Recently, my family has been constantly talking about my skin issues, and this has started to become very uncomfortable for me. Honestly, their concern about my skin problems is bothering me. Do you think this level of attention is normal, or should I set some boundaries?

No way, I think your family is overreacting.

my family had been through it too. my mom was constantly pressuring me to buy creams, go to that doctor, and so on. at one point, I exploded, she doesn’t interfere anymore but we went through a silent treatment phase.

How old are you and do you live with your family? The scale of the situation changes from there.

I think you should consult your own doctor. Skin is a sensitive issue, and they could make things worse with unnecessary creams or the wrong mixtures.

@yazipsildim we live in the same house. It’s often talked about with my mother.

@kahvebitmeden blowing up at mom won’t solve things. It can be expressed in a calmer, more level-headed way; it seems like everyone is scolding their family.

Skin issues require individual solutions; your family may mean well but an untrained person can easily mislead you on such matters. It makes more sense to visit a dermatologist and get a clear assessment :grimacing:

Could the reason behind all this talking be your reluctance to seek a solution or go to the doctor? I mean, perhaps to them, this situation seems like something you don’t care about. Do you think that if you clearly showed you were taking steps about it, they would stop talking?
