I've become unable to go outside due to my anxiety attacks

I've been experiencing constant shortness of breath and palpitations for the last few months. The doctor said there's nothing physically wrong, but I literally feel scared even when going outside, like something is going to happen and I'll be embarrassed. I want to start therapy, but honestly, I'm also very hesitant. Is there anyone among you who has overcome this situation without medication, or can you share how the therapy process goes? I mean, does it really help?

I experienced the same thing; I was taken to the emergency room every day because of that shortness of breath. In therapy, I realized that the fear of embarrassment was actually social anxiety, so I've made quite a bit of progress without medication, honestly.

Does shortness of breath and palpitations start exactly when you step out the door, or does it happen when you enter a crowded place? If there's nothing physically wrong, take a step towards therapy — how long have you been feeling this way?
