My mom asked, 'Do you trust your father?'

This month, my finances are not adding up, and I will struggle to pay the rent. I was thinking about borrowing some money from my dad, but my mom heard right away. She really stressed me out by saying, 'Do you still trust your father? Are you going to borrow money at your age?' To be honest, I feel caught in the middle. It seems like whatever I do will be misunderstood. Would asking for a loan even be such a big deal, or should I really try to handle this on my own? What would you do in this situation?

I think your mother is right. If you're thinking about taking on debt at this age, it's a serious problem. I mean, what will you do when someone important in your life is gone (like a parent)? You need to pull yourself together.

@mahremekmek it's not bad luck or anything, it's totally cultural. Getting support from family isn't abnormal, but if it happens constantly, it's a problem.

Well, I went through something similar 2 years ago. When I was under pressure, I went to my dad and explained the situation. He was supportive, but our relationship got strained. You think things will get better once you pay it back, but it leaves a mark.

@soncaykaldi My dad struggled to pay off his previous debts, so I guess he's sensitive about it. My mom is already a bit fussy.
