My mother is upset because I didn't give my fiancé's family gold

Something similar happened to me. At our engagement, my mother-in-law gave just a gram of gold, but for some reason, my mom commented on it. I was really upset at the time, but I didn't let it show to my partner. Just be straightforward; you don't need to defend your boyfriend's family. As long as you don't have a bad relationship with your mom, that's enough 😮‍💨

Your mother might be worrying a bit too much, but if these things had been talked about before the engagement, there would have been less fighting. Now it's time to calmly lay out the account.

I don't think your mother's anger can be just about the gold issue. Could there have been an unpleasant incident before? Or did someone imply something else from the man's side?
