Why is my mom concerned about my boyfriend's family situation?

I've been with my girlfriend for a year and everything is going quite well, but my mom keeps commenting on her family's financial situation. She says things like, 'Dear, think about your future.' But I care about my girlfriend's character, and I don't understand this focus on money. How do you think I should approach my family about this?

I think your mother is speaking completely out of protective instinct. From a man's perspective, financial matters coming from the family can sometimes weigh heavily, because at some point, he may need to bear that burden. Perhaps your mother is weighing him down in advance.

To be honest, the girls around me who focus too much on family have always ended up regretting it. First, is your relationship good? That's important. Material issues can be resolved, but if there's a character flaw, it can't be fixed 😬

I don't think your mother's "love isn't enough, my daughter" is a bad phrase. She is thinking of your well-being here. Maybe you should listen a bit more? It seemed completely unreasonable to me to say it's entirely wrong 🤦‍♀️

Actually, families focusing on financial matters is psychologically related to the search for security. Especially mothers do not want their children to struggle in the future. But this can sometimes turn into prejudice without knowing the other person. You could try having an open conversation 🫠

Let me add that my girlfriend doesn't live with her family; she lives separately. She's someone who can take on her own responsibilities rather than just focusing on financial matters. Do you think emphasizing this more would help solve the issue?

I don't agree with those who say "the financial situation will be resolved". Plus, if their family's situation isn't bad, why is there a negative outlook directly? I mean, things shouldn't be tied so much to material concerns, in my opinion. It seems like an illogical approach 😂
