Why is my friend so obsessive?

A friend I have known since childhood acted as if they gained weight after seeing that I gained 5 kilos last month. For me, this change is quite normal and I'm healthy, but they exaggerated it. Why did they react this way? I feel good, but receiving such a negative reaction from them has me thinking.

I think friends like that are uncomfortable with your change. I had a falling out with my friend when I lost weight, it feels like a similar situation 😅

So did he say those things to his face, or did he imply them? Can't you solve it by talking?

@yazipsildim said it to my face, and quite seriously too. Then, whenever this topic came up, they always dragged it out 😳

I think about the part where you don't take care of yourself, maybe you seem very indifferent, and that adds up. But still, this reaction is exaggerated.

@hatconene I don't think this has anything to do with indifference; this friend has their own obsession. Can someone really unload on a friend like this? 😳

Such sensitivities regarding weight and body changes are generally personal. Perhaps your friend is also facing pressure related to weight, health, or aesthetics from the past. You could try talking openly with them to clarify the situation.

Things like this should be addressed openly by saying 'I was bothered' before they escalate. Otherwise, it drags on unnecessarily. I think you should give talking a try 😂

@kirmizikazak why do you have to solve everything? sometimes it’s better to put some distance 😅

The "prolonging the topic" part is important, meaning you are somehow showing your attitude, and they are insisting. It seems like there is something else underlying this. Could it be that they can't control something in their own life?
