A close friend basically psyched me up to get a mask that influencers on Instagram rave about. I bought it and have been using it for a few weeks now, and my skin has literally become baby-soft. But after using it a few times, she developed eczema on her face. Now she’s giving me a hard time, saying things like, ‘Were you not thinking straight? What kind of thing is this mask?’ Why didn’t I have this kind of problem? Is it a difference in skin type or is there something wrong with the brand?
Once, it happened to me too. I thought I had bought serum for something else, but after 3 days, redness started. I said to myself that my skin type was sensitive and moved on, but at that time I asked someone who does skincare whether mine was oily or dry.
If you can write the brand here, go ahead or did you check the content tag? Maybe something inside has touched it ![]()
@soncaykaldi I’m not writing the brand name to avoid any complaints, but it was a dense product with sea minerals. My friend’s skin is normally a bit on the dry side.
@makarnaoncesi you spoke just like an urban legend, I have no comments on your experience but when you say ‘greasy or dry’, there’s something called the skin barrier now, everyone’s skin can be sensitive if the right precautions are not taken.
Honestly, eczema is usually not caused by a single product but rather from a weakness in the skin barrier or a combination of multiple factors. What your friend uses to clean could be impacting this, and does he/she do anything else after applying it?
That’s too bad for that friend, but I don’t think you have any responsibility.
