I'm afraid to leave my toxic relationship, is that normal?

I've been stuck in a draining cycle with my partner for a long time. Constant arguments, jealousy crises... But for some strange reason, I can't break up. Maybe it's become a habit, I don't know. A few people said, 'if you don't get out of this relationship, it will get worse,' but the more I think about it, the more trapped I feel. Has anyone experienced this? Is it harder to leave or to stay?

I've experienced that firsthand; it's a very difficult situation. I couldn't leave for the same reasons, you know, the 'habit' you're talking about. I thought it would be even worse after breaking up, but the taste of freedom is something else. That jealousy can really wear a person down, just so you know.

My ex used to do this all the time too. No arguments, no drama, then let's make up. It seriously messed with my mental health. When I got out of it, I realized that cycle holds you back, but the outside is much better.

Have you ever questioned your own mistakes? I don't know what you're saying now, but if there's an ongoing argument, it isn't one-sided. Maybe you're also contributing indirectly to those crises?

This cycle of wear and tear you speak of could be a form of manipulation. You feel guilty at the same time as you can't seem to leave. It's important not to normalize constant arguments and jealousy crises. Have you considered talking to a therapist about this?

You have a point, maybe I sometimes overreact or don't hold back. But I just can't control that at the moment. My mom keeps saying, 'break up, this won't work,' but I can't explain to her why I'm struggling.

Actually, such relationships are so common. People continue with the hope that they will heal somewhere, but it usually just gets worse. The moment you say "it has to end" without expecting anyone to agree with you, it ends.

I think there's something else going on here. Is there something behind those jealousy crises you're talking about? I mean, if it's not a trust issue, then why is he/she jealous so much? I suggest you think about it.

You're right, my daughter. If these things aren't solved before marriage, there will be bigger problems tomorrow. Putting aside the pressure from the neighborhood, a home doesn't run on such jealousy 😳
