Am I trying to hide my weight or did I dress correctly?

I wear plus sizes and generally prefer loose clothing, but a friend told me, "You're hiding yourself." When I wear tight clothes, I feel uncomfortable, as if everyone is looking at me. Do you think this is just a matter of personal choice, or is it a subconscious reflex of hiding myself? What do you suggest?

I can say I experienced exactly the same thing. I used to always wear loose clothes, and the day my friend asked me, 'Why are you covering yourself?' I realized it. To be honest, back then I had an internal lack of confidence. I went to a style consultant, and I chose both stylish and comfortable pieces. I still wear loose clothes, but now it's a conscious choice.

A friend of mine at university experienced something very similar. He used to go around in hoodies and baggy pants, but when he started going to the gym, he got used to wearing leggings, for example. Even when being inactive, he found matching outfits. Clothes that made him feel uncomfortable might change his dressing style.

So now we need to stop and think, are you really uncomfortable with these tight things, or is it because you're focused on what others are saying? If you're saying, 'It feels like everyone is looking at me,' that's entirely your perception. I think you need to first question this perspective of yours.

There may be an underlying insecurity about body perception at play. Choosing loose clothing might seem like a comfortable choice, but sometimes it unconsciously overlaps with a desire to 'become invisible.' However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing; the main issue is the meaning you assign to these clothes. Are you comfortable? You might want to test your comfort zone by slightly expanding it.

Let me update you: What my friend said made me think because sometimes when I really look in the mirror, I think things like 'I should look smaller.' But on the other hand, I'm used to the comfort of baggy clothes. I guess both style and psychology are involved, right?

Direct suggestion: Try adding one or two semi-loose pieces that hug your shape to your wardrobe. For example, an A-line dress or a textured cardigan. You will feel comfortable while showcasing your figure a bit.
