Are such events perversion or illness?

Today I saw a very strange and disgusting incident on social media; they were saying an elderly man did something harmful to himself in public. As a first reaction, everyone mocked and cursed, but then someone wrote, "at this age, such uncontrolled behaviors can sometimes be a neurological disorder." Honestly, I'm confused. Of course, such behavior is unacceptable in society, but should we directly interpret every strange and nauseating act as perversion? What if he is genuinely sick?

At first, it naturally grosses people out, but for an elderly person, there really is a possibility of illness. In some neurological conditions, the social brake completely disappears, and the person doesn't behave like they used to 😅

Illness and all that, but can you really do such things in a public area where children can pass through? Society also has to protect itself; not everyone can be as understanding as a psychiatrist.

We cannot make a diagnosis, but inappropriate, impulsive, and socially rule-disregarding behaviors that suddenly emerge in older age may require neurological or psychiatric evaluation. This does not change the fact that the behavior is wrong; the cause may just not be 'character'.

I got stuck on the object of the incident, how does a person even come up with this 🤭

That's the problem, everyone is joking around but what if the guy actually ends up being sick? It's easy to make fun, but if our own dad did something like that tomorrow, we'd be ashamed.

But let's not attribute every bad behavior to illness. Some people really have no boundaries. It's also not right to automatically consider old people innocent just because of their age 🥲

I was wondering about this too. On one hand, it's a disgrace and disturbing, but on the other hand, when someone in the comments said, 'If he changed this way when he used to be very normal, it could be a sickness,' I thought about it. How can families notice something like this?

Family can actually notice: sudden personality changes, inappropriate jokes, loss of control over spending, decreased empathy, doing things they wouldn't have done before. If such changes occur, it is necessary to take them to a neurologist/psychiatrist.

An elderly man in our neighborhood had started to behave very strangely for a while; everyone was saying he was 'going crazy.' Then it turned out he was beginning to have dementia. People's tongues can be very merciless.

I think the correct sentence is this: the behavior is unacceptable, intervention occurs in public spaces, but then health is also taken into account. Just by lynching, neither the victim is protected nor the patient is treated 🙄

Looking at it like silk, the detail that seems small here is actually at the heart of the matter. If I were you, I wouldn't make a definitive decision without asking about that detail.

When looking from Selin's perspective, the detail that seems small here is actually at the center of the issue. If I were in her position, I wouldn't make a definitive decision without asking about that detail.
