I lost my birth control pill and couldn't tell my wife

I've been regularly using my birth control pills but recently lost them in my bag. I've searched everywhere and couldn't find them. I also couldn't tell my spouse because I feel like it might cause some problems. Now I'm confused about what to do; will taking a break before starting a new pack cause any issues? I'm also worried that if I don't say anything, they'll think I'm irresponsible.
