Am I experiencing labor pains or a panic attack?

Lately, I've been experiencing incredible pains in my stomach, but my due date isn't here yet. My family says I'm 'just imagining it,' but I've postponed going to the doctor to avoid arguing with my mom. Do you think this is an early sign of labor, or am I just feeling this way because of stress?

I had something similar happen to me a month before giving birth; I felt incredible pains in my abdomen just like you described. They said it was a contraction combined with stress, and I seriously thought I had made a wrong move at the hospital. Unfortunately, it doesn't resolve without seeing a doctor, so don't neglect it.

I think you shouldn't postpone seeing the doctor at all. Go directly to the obstetrics department. Before you go, write down the time and frequency of your contractions; don't wait for the doctor to ask, just explain it yourself.

But I think there's something here... Why would your family say "you're imagining things"? They might be wondering if you're creating such obvious pain in your head. Do you feel alone when you stay silent to avoid arguing? It's important to talk in situations like this 🫣

The symptoms you're mentioning could also indicate preterm labor or a contraction caused by psychological factors. It's impossible to say anything definite. However, if there's hardness in the abdominal area and a rhythmic feeling, you should see a doctor. Is there a decrease in the baby's movements? These should also be evaluated.

First of all, thank you friends, the comments were really great. The reason for my silence is that I feel guilty after arguing with my mom. I started writing down the times of my contractions, they seem irregular but they were lighter today. There doesn't seem to be any decrease in the baby's movements, but I'm still a bit suspicious.

Yes, if you're in pain, there's no need for anyone to question whether it's a dream or reality! Don't normalize this level of interference with your bodily boundaries. The final decision about your body should be made by you and your doctor, not your family.

This situation sometimes arises not from a conflict with the mother, but from what is taught in society. Usually, if something other than the pains is occupying your mind, it’s stressful. But I believe seeing a doctor is essential; it helps you relax and gain clarity.
