I went to the gynecologist yesterday for my irregular periods and cramps. During the ultrasound examination, the doctor said something like, “the first bike ride is a bit shaky” regarding my menstrual cycle. He said it with a smile, but I felt extremely uncomfortable at that moment. It seemed like too personal of a joke to me. Do you think this is normal, or should I consider changing doctors?

8A doctor had told me something like this too; I had gone for irregular periods. I had a cyst, but jokes can really be bothersome. The doctor is very important, so if they don’t suit you, I suggest you change.
I didn’t understand the part about the first bike tour, what did you mean? Was it someone you hadn’t met before?

@camkenari aren’t you exaggerating a bit? A doctor is still a person. There’s no rule that they have to filter everything. They just made a joke, maybe to help you relax.
What I’m stuck on is that there’s a vibe, like you hesitated to bring up the topic like this? Why didn’t you mention what was bothering you there? 
The doctor-patient relationship is a sensitive matter. For some patients, such jokes may soften the relationship, while for others, it can be a boundary violation. If you felt uncomfortable, it would be healthier not to continue with that doctor.
@uykuarasi but people act according to their environment. A gynecological examination is already sensitive, not everyone can handle a joke. Even if it is done to relax, it needs to be taken personally.
I can just change the doctor directly, why are you putting up with it?
