He lent money to his brother from our wedding budget

My fiancée told me that she lent money from the savings we had for the wedding to her brother. She did it without asking me, but she says, 'he's in a tough spot; we'll make it back later.' Honestly, this situation upset me because our wedding is coming up soon, and everything depends on the budget. On one hand, I understand her wanting to help her family, but not consulting me about it seems like a problem, right? How would you feel if you were in my shoes?

something similar had happened in our house too; my brother-in-law said he was in a tough spot, so my wife gave him some money. but then that debt was never paid back. I mean, helping out the family is one thing, but doing it without talking to you first feels kind of weird.

Did he say the debt repayment period? Or does he just leave it saying 'we will replace it'? I think it's important for him to give a date.

@soncaykaldi didn't give a date, but my fiancé just says "he'll handle it, don't worry" and brushes it off. That's why I've become a bit anxious.

@camkenari why is it such a problem to help the family? Before getting married, he can actually use his own financial savings however he wants.

Such issues are critical in a relationship because trust and partnership are at the forefront. Evaluate your approach to money and communicate openly. The "engagement period" is a process without legal binding, and material expectations need to be clearly articulated.

@yazipsildim, but if that money is for the wedding, it wouldn't be right to spend it individually. I think doing something without consulting your partner is already against the idea of partnership.

I think it's a serious problem. Stop interrupting from the beginning.
