I ran into my ex three weeks before the wedding!

I'm making wedding preparations with my spouse, but I ran into my ex at a store. We greeted each other without thinking, but my spouse was right beside me. I felt uncomfortable in that moment because facing my past is not very pleasant. If my spouse finds out about this situation, what will they think? Should I keep it from them?

I once ran into my ex while I was engaged. In that moment, I felt like I was going to sweat. I told my fiancée, and honestly, she didn't even react like I thought she would. But it stayed with me; if I hadn't said anything, it would have grown even bigger in my mind.

Does your spouse know about your ex? I mean, are they aware of this on the other side? Or do they think that something serious has been discussed between you two?

@benbisorayim actually yes, he knows my ex but doesn't know who he is in detail. He hasn't said anything after this incident, just seems to have become a bit quiet.

Honestly, your attitude is more important here than the ex. If you've blown it out of proportion in your head and developed an irrational sense of guilt, your partner might feel it and draw strange conclusions. I think you shouldn't worry so much; just relax.

the communication device comes into play, of course. Your spouse's noticing this and becoming quiet likely means they're worried about the situation. If you just say sincerely and simply, 'we ran into each other, I said hi,' they won't create any more scenarios in their mind 😬

@hatconene I agree. Sometimes people feel like they did something wrong in the heat of the moment, but being too hard on yourself can complicate things. It's better to just explain what happened simply 😬
