Is it normal that my spouse is always on the phone when they get home from work?

Lately, my husband takes his phone as soon as he gets home, constantly glued to the screen even while watching series or eating. I try to talk to him, but he just gives short answers and seems to brush me off. Does he not want me anymore, or is this just a habit? Do you think this is a sign of something, or am I just overreacting?

I think this requires both of you to sit down and have an honest conversation first and foremost. But frankly, it might just be a habit. My spouse, sometimes when they come home, is either playing games on the phone or on social media... I've tried to explain, but they don't get it. They tend to do it more when they're tired, for example.

I think you're being a bit too dry. Honestly, just because your husband wants to blow off some steam for a moment doesn't mean he doesn't want you. Also, you say you tried to talk, but did you really express your feelings clearly, or did you speak indirectly so as not to hurt him?

This is actually a problem many couples face today. It's important to set boundaries regarding technology in a relationship. Communication issues in marriage are usually a reflection of other accumulated issues. I suggest sitting down one evening without your phones and just talking. Perhaps you're neglecting each other unintentionally.

I guess the real problem is that it wasn't like this before. I mean, until about 3-4 months ago, we were talking normally, joking around. Now, when I look at my phone for hours, I can't help but wonder if there's something wrong with me. When I ask, they say 'there's nothing wrong,' but I can't trust that.

So when you noticed this situation, did you ever ask them to completely put down their phone? I mean, did you ever get angry once and say, 'enough, put that down'? If you always tried to speak gently, maybe they are misunderstanding you.

My daughter talks a bit with the one she loves. If my partner did that one day, I would immediately ask, 'What’s going on, is something wrong?' These things shouldn’t be dragged out; either speak clearly and solve it or go to an expert, like this, bonds weaken afterward.

If I were you, I'd hide my phone one evening or just turn it off completely. Then I'd say, 'Isn't this better?' At first, it might be tough, but it seems like you'd get used to it. But if you think they've completely lost interest in me, just confront it openly. Even if there’s nothing going on, it would make you feel better.
