I got caught by my sister-in-law while buying a pregnancy test

I went to the pharmacy, and all of a sudden I locked eyes with my aunt while buying a pregnancy test. My face turned red, and I mumbled something like I was just there to get some water. She didn't say much, but she definitely understood. There's a chance she might tell my mom tonight, since that's the kind of person she is... How do I deal with this? Or should I just try to forget about it?

something similar happened to me but it was my cousin who caught me. they told my mom right away, didn't hide it at all. I think you need to act according to your aunt's character, can you talk to her and ease her mind by saying there's nothing to worry about? 🫠

How old are you? I mean, it would be really weird to say this to your mom, but is there some tension between you and your aunt already? 🤦‍♀️

@kahvebitmeden I'm 25 years old, but there are still control freaks in the family. I haven't had anything really bad with my aunt before, but she's always in this mindset of 'everyone should know everything that concerns me.'

@soncaykaldi I don't think they should even try to talk, what would they say anyway? Did I accidentally buy a pregnancy test while getting water? They should remain silent, it will be forgotten.

it's not individually right for the person to share this with others. It wouldn't be ethical for anyone to spread private decisions within the family. But if there's such a suspicion, trying to establish a calm dialogue beforehand and explaining the sensitivity of the situation could be a good solution.

I won't get hung up on it, but I can't shake off the "is it just water?" part in my head. The nonsensical dilemma of the pharmacy shopping experience.

You forget, you shouldn't dismiss it. Such things shouldn't even be discussed.

Has your aunt caused problems with things like this before? If it has become a habit, you have to accept the situation and act accordingly. Still, it wouldn’t be a problem if she doesn’t confront your mother directly.

If you're 25, you need to stand behind your own decisions now. Instead of making excuses like "I'm just getting some water," if you had said, "Yes, I did, it's for my health after all," you wouldn't leave your cousin with anything to say. I honestly don't understand this passivity 🙃
