I was caught in the kitchen at night

I suddenly craved junk food in the middle of the night and ate half the chips in the cupboard. In the morning, when my mom saw the package, she interrogated me; she scolded, “Did you finish this at night, my daughter?” I told her I’m on a diet, but she still doesn’t believe me. I feel like I can’t control myself. Does this happen to you too, how do you manage it?

Now let’s be really honest. Getting up at midnight to eat chips is already a whole other level of losing control, and your mom is right, I think. What is it to say you’re on a diet and then dive into the fridge? Just take a look at yourself, you’re the one not being trustworthy, you need to get your act together a bit.

You said you’re on a diet, but aren’t you going to say anything about your mom buying chips? If they weren’t in the fridge, would you have eaten so much? I mean, who were those chips bought for, anyway? :woman_shrugging:

@sorgulayan actually, my brother bought the chips, and I was supposed to not touch them for mom. But that night, I couldn’t help it, and unfortunately, it’s not the first time I’ve done this :joy:

@ters_kose just stop blaming the kid. It’s human nature to crave something at night. It’s strange for his mother to make such a big deal about it. What does she gain by scolding him as if he had devoured the world?

Look, it’s true that controlling late-night eating is very difficult. But in general, consuming sugary or salty foods can create problems with the leptin hormone and increase appetite further. You might try making a habit of preparing healthy snacks and keeping them in the fridge.

@kadir_kiymetci I think the main issue is more about respect within the family than health. In which household can someone get up in the middle of the night and do something like that comfortably? There’s something called privacy, your mom is right to be upset
