In this case, there are two options: either you ask the doctor and try to find another solution, or you make do with the buffer. Don't misuse the medication; it has a lot of side effects.
You can also consider menstrual cups besides tampons, they say they provide comfort for a longer time. But if you're trying it for the first time, you might need some time to get used to it; it can be a hassle to deal with while on vacation. Have you used one before?
