Going out of town for work will strain our relationship

My boyfriend will be going to work in another city for 6 months, this has been confirmed. He says he loves me very much, but isn't there always a worry about trust and interest in long-distance relationships? Right now, I'm extremely undecided; I want to be supportive, but I'm also thinking about the possibility of drifting apart. Is there anyone who has experienced this kind of situation? How did you get through it?

I went through the same thing; my spouse was in another city for 8 months. At first, we were constantly calling each other, but then they got so busy with work that our communication lessened. We talked openly, and I had to trust them. When they returned, we became even closer, but it’s really important to keep the conversation going.

Honestly, this level of indecision over a 6-month job seems a bit exaggerated. I mean, it’s not like they will stay with you for life, they need to work too. Maybe the issue lies in your own anxieties 🙄

Trust is always a challenging factor in long-distance relationships. Distrust usually stems from anxiety, and this can be minimized through open and honest communication. Nothing should remain hidden; you can establish routines such as calling or video chatting when the time calls for it.

Let me add that he said he was afraid of losing me during this process. But he feels caught between his job and me. Maybe I made him feel this fear too much, I don't know 😅

There is another situation here for me. The guy's 6-month work excuse seems excessive. Do you really suspect it's related to work, or has he been in contact with someone else? Maybe that's why you're falling behind in terms of support.
