What happened with my boss at work put me in a tough spot

My boss is showing an excessive interest in flirting while also promoting me, and I find myself in a very strange situation. Everyone at work knows about this, but I don't know how I should react. Will he fire me, or will he be more attentive?

I experienced a situation like that where they acted like they were interested and then suddenly stopped. It's a really weird feeling; you just feel like you're going crazy. But at that time, I was willing to quit my job. Do you have that kind of chance? 🙄

Did your boss threaten to fire you or imply something like that? If so, that makes the situation different because then it's quite troublesome 🙂

@kahvebitmeden there's no clear threat, but it feels like there's pressure being put on me in other ways, so that's why I can't really speak definitively.

You explain things so confusingly. It’s obvious that your work and personal life have mixed up, and you’re partly to blame for allowing that. Your boss is in front of you, but you’re being too passive in addressing it.

Such a situation in the workplace may fall under the scope of 'mobbing' or 'discriminatory behavior' according to labor law. If there is a message, like an email, keep it. But do not take any action without consulting a lawyer directly.

@hatconene that wasn't really a nice tone, not everyone has the courage to complain as directly as you do. Especially if there's a fear of unemployment.

Talk to someone in detail, maybe someone you trust outside of work. It will get worse if it builds up inside you. But don't forget to document it.

Someone experienced something similar in our company; in the end, the woman transferred to another department. But she handled it without yelling and screaming; maybe a high tone doesn't help 😐

We're talking among ourselves, but does the boss really have any intentions? Has he ever shown any sign? I mean, what exactly does he do when he puts pressure on us? Is it passive-aggressive reactions, or a more straightforward attitude? We need to clarify that first.

How often do you interact with the client one-on-one? Is it a continuous workflow side by side, or is it more of an occasional contact? Because if you're forced into direct contact, it becomes much harder to ease that pressure. Maybe we need to think of a solution like a buffer in between 🫠

Okay, but everyone is saying to gather documentation— is there anything concrete to document? Or is it just a situation where you're going on feelings? Because feelings can't be dealt with; we need something tangible here 😳

Have there been any witnesses among other employees when your boss put you in a difficult situation? In other words, was it just a one-on-one experience, or are there things that others have also witnessed? Because if it's a one-sided situation, it could turn into that he said, she said issue you mentioned.

Is it done in front of other employees or one-on-one? So, how do these situations end up? For example, after arguing with someone, does their action hinder your work? It doesn't matter if it's direct or indirect; you can read their intentions a bit through such outcomes.
