Is it necessary to see a gynecologist, or can I wait?

My period is 10 days late, but there’s no suspicion of pregnancy. I thought it could just be stress, but I’m not at ease. To be honest, I’m also afraid to go to the gynecologist; I feel hesitant about both the environment and sharing my personal information. What would you do in this situation? Should I wait, or is there a chance something might come up?

I used to always stress out like you when my period was late, but it turns out it was related to my thyroid. I went to the gynecologist, and she did an ultrasound and asked for a hormone test. It’s not at all like the scary environment you think; just wear comfortable clothes and go.

I had a similar situation, I had an ovarian cyst. But I didn’t have any pain, I just realized it was delayed. It’s important to go early because it can grow. At least go for an ultrasound, then you can be sure and feel at ease.

I’m sorry, but in the end, it’s your health. You say you’re scared and hesitating, but postponing things like this can create more issues. Delay isn’t always stress; the fact that it’s taking so long should be taken seriously.

The reasons for a delayed period are very broad. Stress, hormonal imbalance, polycystic ovary, or other factors could be the cause. A gynecological examination is essential to understand the exact reason. Just an ultrasound can reveal a lot.

Thank you for the answers. I thought it might be hormones as you said because I occasionally get pimples during this time. But I still don’t have any pain, just a delay. Is it still necessary to go for this?

Can I ask you something? You mentioned a delay for the last 10 days. Did you notice any cramps or anything different during your last period? Maybe you have another symptom but didn’t pay attention to it.

This reluctance has been taught to all of us, but the doctor is ultimately doing their job. We say it’s personal, but in matters of health, actions are taken with your consent, and it’s important to understand that this is not a bad thing. Even if you don’t go, don’t blame yourself, but it doesn’t have to be a negative experience.

My daughter, health doesn’t joke around. Not going will be harmful to you. There’s nothing to be afraid of, the doctor is used to these things. I never want my child to risk their health, so you take care of yourself too.

When you’re delayed for 10 days, you can’t help but feel tense, and a thousand scenarios are spinning in your head. But without something concrete, this stress just drags on. If you go, they’ll find a solution in a microsecond, and your thoughts will become clearer.
