Should I go to the gynecologist or wait?

My period is a week late and I can’t stop worrying. It’s not a matter of pregnancy, but I’m afraid it could be a hormonal issue. I’m both anxious about the results and uncomfortable with the idea of a check-up. Has anyone experienced something like this? Should I go to the doctor right away or wait a little longer?

I experienced something like this last month too; my period was 10 days late. I was literally shaking with anger. I had an ovarian cyst, but the doctor says he will confirm the diagnosis. I went straight to the gynecologist, and they did an ultrasound. At least you’ll feel more at ease; I think you should get checked.

Don’t waste time, go see a gynecologist. If you go in the early morning hours, it will be more comfortable, and you can ask the doctor about your hormone balance. Don’t get a random private examination; obstetricians in state hospitals do these kinds of checks regularly.

Menstrual delays can be due to conditions such as stress, weight fluctuations, or polycystic ovary syndrome. In cases of non-pregnancy related hormonal imbalances, prolactin or thyroid hormones are generally assessed. Your doctor will likely request a blood test and an ultrasound. It is important to consult a specialist for a more accurate roadmap.

Thanks everyone. My morale got even worse today because I had PMS symptoms, but I still didn’t get my period. Also, I’ve been quite stressed over the last two weeks since my mom has been unwell. Do you think this could be the effect of stress? Or should I go to the doctor right away?

Why did you wait until now? Writing “it eats me up inside” doesn’t solve the problem. Irregular periods can be serious; it’s not something that will just go away on its own with a little thought. You should have been aware of this by now, no matter how old you are.

As a man, I’ve also experienced a similar situation with my wife, which is why I’m writing. Women’s health is a very delicate matter. When my wife hesitated to go to the doctor, I offered my support. If you want to go with someone, take someone along, but if there’s no solution, anxiety just stays in place.

My daughter, things like this shouldn’t be delayed. If you were my daughter, I would have taken you to the doctor by now. If it’s something hormonal, it can be resolved with early diagnosis. I hope you take action right away, don’t waste time.
